Brief:

We want to show how a completely new place feel familiar, like you’ve been there before.
Film Description:

Strangely Familiar is a brand film built around the feeling of recognising a place you’ve never been before.

The film plays with memory and perception. We first experience the place through the eyes of a young girl, as though she belongs to it by the surroundings, the music and the little details are stirring memories of a life lived there. But the final reveal shifts our understanding: the girl we thought we were watching is actually a woman in her 50s, experiencing the place for the first time.

The illusion makes the familiar feel mysterious. It suggests that sometimes, what connects us to a new place isn't a memory, but a feeling that is impossible to explain.
For Airbnb, this becomes more than a story about staying somewhere new. It captures the magic of finding an unexpected sense of belonging in a place that was never supposed to feel familiar.
